Fosamax Use Has Serious Consequences

Fosamax, also known as aldenotrate sodium, is a drug that belongs to a group called biphosphonates. Merck & Co. is Fosamax’s manufacturer and the drug was initially and primarily created to treat individuals who suffer from or could possibly acquire osteoporosis. However, as it turns out, Fosamax would only make bones more brittle and prone to breakage. As Fosamax may have side effects that could be dangerous to a patient’s health, experts recommend that users take extra caution in taking the drug. Other side effects. While not as grave as the previous two health conditions mentioned, there are several more side effects Fosamax allegedly cause. Fosamax use are also said to result to gastrointestinal abnormalities such as abdominal cramping and diarrhea, problems with the eyes, pain in the joints, muscles or bones, and skin rash.

Many people have been filing for a Fosamax lawsuit for sever sufferings due to Fosamax use. This can serve as a reminder for other people who have been using the Fosamax drug to reevaluate how the drug is contributing to their quality of life.

Richard Moore, MD, PhD on how a drug company paid his publisher for a book about using drugs for blood pressure to compete with his book The K Factor (1986) about using potassium for high blood pressure. Hi, this is Larry Hobbs @ FatNews.com. In 1986, a physiologist at the University of Vermont Medical School and myself got Macmillan to publish [our book] The K Factor: Reversing and Preventing High Blood Pressure Without Drugs” a book which decisively showed that 95% of the cases of hypertension are due to a low ratio of potassium to sodium in the American diet. We did not emphasize it, but since you can’t repair a dietary deficiency with a synthetic chemical [a drug] this clearly indicated that drugs are not the answer for hypertension. Macmillan gave us a $50000 advance and made The K Factor number two in their priority list for 1986 (second only to Margaret Truman’s book about her father). In most cases the hearing loss involved one ear, and about a third of the time it was temporary. Medical follow-up information was often limited for the reported cases, which makes it difficult to determine whether these reports are directly related to the use of one of these drugs, an underlying medical condition, or other risk factors for hearing loss, a combination of these factors, or other factors. FDA has asked the manufacturers of these erectile dysfunction drugs to display the risk of hearing loss more prominently in the labeling, and to guide patients on what to do if they experience hearing problems while they are on the drugs. The revised label will advise clinicians to let patients know that sudden hearing loss may be due to the drug, and to stop taking the drug and seek medical attention if they experience any sudden decrease or loss of hearing.
